Best Visuals 2021 The Damsel’s Tale

Best Visuals goes to The Damsel’s Tale. The Judges liked the simplistic storybook feel. A faux-book box sets the scene for cute yet atmospheric illustrations and simple but understandable iconography. The colourful and detailed board provides a terrific focal point, populated by some charming and well-made playing pieces. For such a small package The Damsel’s Tale packs a lot of visual punch.

Australian involvement includes games design from Paul Nicholas, Josh Sommerfeld and Alex Wynnter.

Damsel etiquette will tell you that you can never really trust a knight to save you properly, but as long as your dragon needs feeding, you should let them have a go. In the two-player asymmetrical strategy game The Damsel's Tale, the dragon is trying to alert his mother to the presence of a devious knight sent to steal from their ancestral treasure pile.
