The Kanga is an award that focuses on Australian involvement in the worldwide tabletop industry. A judging panel made up of a selection of Australian tabletop media contributors oversees the award, which is handed out each year. The judges’ task, to assess the titles released within a year and award three Kanga Awards; Game of the Year, Best Visuals, or Best Gameplay.
The idea for The Kanga Awards began after a selection of those working within the tabletop media space in Australia had plans for awards through their own outlets. After some discussion, it seemed sensible not to flood the market with various awards. So it was decided to create a central outlet-agnostic award. This allowed for the pooling of resources to broaden the scope and reach of the award, as well as providing a wider selection of opinions on the game selections.
