Game of the Year 2022 Land vs Sea

Game of the Year goes to Land vs Sea. The Judges were very impressed with how easy the game is to learn, and yet it offers a lot of scope for tactical play. Being able to mix and match the win conditions means each game can be tailored to the players and situation. The visuals augment the mechanics while also providing an impressive and detailed map-like play area that looks great from any distance. Coupled with the smart use of the box as a play component and Land vs Sea brings an enjoyable experience to a wide variety of players.

Australian involvement includes games design and illustrations by Jon-Paul Jacques, graphic design by Ben Nelson and development from Kim Brebach. It is published by Good Games Publishing.

Part puzzle, part game. Play as either Land or Sea (or the Cartographer in a 3 player game). Each player plays with 2 double-sided hex tiles containing a mix of land and sea shapes. They take turns placing a tile each to make a map together. Land places tiles trying to complete land areas, and Sea places tiles trying to complete sea areas. Completed areas score a point per tile; land areas for Land, sea areas for Sea.
